Hi! I’m Bree.

I’m a product marketer and strategist. I work on content catalogs: the libraries, archives, knowledge databases, channels, and lesson banks that are the actual product. And I bring them to market.

My background

I went from Content Strategist to Senior Director of Product at a K-12 & higher ed video distribution platform within 5 years. I’ve been a founder ghostwriter for climate leaders and assistant managing editor for a litmag. I’m the former President & Representative Director for a Tokyo non-profit association and served as a marketing director for Business Leaders for Diverse Abilities. I’ve done freelance scriptwriting, copywriting, and newsletter writing for over ten years.

I have a strong track record of bringing together creative, technical, and revenue teams to craft a shared vision. I know both what the roadmap can actually support and what a client will let you claim about it.

Snapshot of where I am

Currently I’m doing fractional product marketing for a literacy edtech rebranding a 3,000-lesson catalog featuring PBS, original video, and NPR podcasts. I’m based in Seattle, WA (my hometown!) after stints in Tokyo and London. Earning my MBA from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business, expected graduation in December 2027.

My next chapter

I’m looking for product marketing and brand work in education and media: internship, fractional, or full-time.

Brand & product launch in educational technology

A 3,000-lesson library had been sold for a decade as a listening tool. This was one skill with one use case, and a fraction of what the catalog could actually serve.

As fractional product marketer I repositioned it for the rebrand from Listenwise to LingoLift: a four-skill literacy platform, with listening reframed as the mechanism rather than the product. Grounded in a voice-of-customer analysis of 111 teacher testimonials, the work spans positioning and messaging architecture; homepage and site copy for two distinct buyers, teachers and districts; the visual brand suite; content strategy and writing for email, blog, and social; and sales enablement. The homepage shipped on deadline for ISTE and captured 250 leads in its first two weeks.

Metadata strategy behind a multi-million-dollar licensing contract

Our 2-million-video catalog was only as findable as the keywords its content partners had supplied: adequate for browsing, useless to a customer who needed videos to map automatically into their own course structure. When a major consumer edtech platform opened conversations, I volunteered to pitch them.

I proposed our product adopt Thema, an international subject taxonomy, as the catalog’s spine: tag once against a published standard, then map to any customer’s internal scheme. The week before the pitch, I pressure-tested feasibility with data science, content, and engineering. I presented the idea to the client as our roadmap, and the deal closed in the multi-millions. This became the funding that built the capability.

I then wrote the metadata standards that governed the conversion of our library to Thema: video types and subtypes, title and description rules, subject classification, and children’s content rules, all maintained by a cross-functional governance committee.

Ethical positioning for an AI feature launch for K-12 with YouTube creators

A 2-million-asset educational library was being sold as a library — whole videos, searched by keyword. The multi-use assets inside made each video a multiplier and more valuable: short, individual teaching moments, identified by AI from the transcripts and searchable by meaning. I led positioning for a dataset of 90,000 identified “highlights” as a product in its own right.

In K-12, “AI-powered” is a liability rather than a selling point, so the position I landed on was provenance: every result traceable to a vetted educational source, every transcript used with the explicit consent of the 300+ YouTube creators behind it — the one promise the general-purpose chatbots couldn’t make. I built the launch narrative, the feature demos, and a promo video putting Highlights head-to-head with ChatGPT and Gemini in early 2024. It became the best-performing post in the company’s LinkedIn history and drove the first meaningful inbound the sales team had seen for the enterprise API in months.

Pricing strategy & archive monetization for creative media company

A Tokyo production agency serving global athletic and outdoor brands was busy, well-paid, and couldn’t say which projects were making or losing money. I rebuilt their financials into a single normalized ledger with quarterly rollups and profitability by project tier, which separated genuine pricing failures from execution overruns for the first time. The analysis also surfaced how much of their budget went to new production versus post, making the case for remixing eighteen months of existing footage into sellable assets instead of shooting more. The output: a pricing calculator, a capacity model recommending 75–80% utilization buffers, and the negotiation materials and coaching the founder took into her largest client renegotiation.

Risk analysis of a client’s content catalog

When a critical client account was hit with a copyright infringement claim carrying potential damages in the millions, content rights weren’t their expertise — they were mine. Working from a single metadata export of 34,528 tutor-produced videos, most fields blank, I built a three-tier risk taxonomy in days and classified the entire library against it: 92.6% showed clear references to copyrighted textbook titles, chapters, or problem sets, frequently embedded in file names and URLs visible to end users. The assessment was scoped as a factual review rather than a legal opinion, structured so counsel could build on it directly. Unbilled, and delivered inside the week.

Content strategy & branding for a LinkedIn creator

A CTO and data scientist had created a wealth of content, and was seeing organic LinkedIn growth as a result. He had hundreds of original posts, blog entries, guide books, and cheat sheets and no way to monetize the catalog or position them into a singular theme. As a result, he was sitting in the middle of the crowded technical-leadership space.

I reviewed his stories, voice, and style to triangulate a differentiating micro-niche and built the positioning and visual brand around it. He turned this personal brand into over a dozen podcast bookings in the following months.

Corporate strategy & GTM narrative: Lenovo AI PC strategy

How does a hardware company defend margin in a commoditized PC market when “AI PC” is about to become table stakes? For this Michigan Ross strategy project, our team landed on customization at scale as Lenovo’s defensible position and the one advantage competitors couldn’t copy quickly. I owned the final deck: the narrative spine, structure, data visualization, and design.

Community programming and event promotion for a Tokyo non-profit

As President of FEW Japan, a bilingual women’s professional nonprofit, I rebuilt how the organization runs and how it communicates. On the governance side: a two-layer committee and working-group structure with a sponsoring officer model connecting board officers to functional teams. On the marketing side: newsletter and social programming that lifted email click-through from roughly 2% to 4.4% during my tenure, plus fully structured events including a 2026 Summer Kickoff designed so no attendee is ever left standing in an unguided moment.

Catalog-led acquisition: “Simple Techniques for Differentiated Instruction with Video”

Teachers don’t download vendor eBooks; they download lesson help. I wrote these classroom techniques a teacher could use whether or not they ever bought the product — built on the catalog itself. It helped a 0-to-1 classroom product reach over 28,000 sign-ups.

Research & visual brand for personal blog

Total Cosmic Storage is where I write about the gap between how systems function and how people actually experience them. Drawing on Sellars’ manifest and scientific images, feminist economics, and care-centered models of business, I write, design, and build the visual identity around it.

Graphic design & content marketing for career coaching business

The Work Witch is my own brand practice: goddess archetype frameworks applied to positioning work for spiritual business owners. I built the identity, the Muse/Magic/Method content system, the archetypes that anchor the funnel, and the tiered offer ladder behind it. It’s also the sharpest test of my own positioning advice! When the blog was pulling in the wrong audience for the top offers, I had to diagnose and fix that mismatch on myself.
